 (full fact-check in progress).

Based on the DC Comics character, Shazam is produced by New Line Cinema, DC Studios, and the Safran Company and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

It’s safe to say that Shazam! Fury of the Gods is a box office damp squib. The sequel’s $30 million takings for the opening weekend are a dismal performance for a PG-13 superhero movie in the DC or Marvel universes and well below the $53.5 million grossed at the opening weekend of the first film in the series.

A stellar cast fails to save the sequel. The lineup includes Zachary Levi, Asher Angel, Adam Brody, Ross Butler, Grace Caroline Currey, Jack Dylan Grazer, Meagan Good, Lucy Liu, Djimon Hounsou, Rachel Zegler, and Helen Mirren.

By contrast, the original Shazam! opened to good reviews and grossed $366 million globally. While that figure may not be astounding by superhero standards, it was good enough to warrant a sequel. Shazam! Fury of the Gods, on the other hand, looks set to underperform its frontrunner on all counts.

Post Malone
Post Malone – diamonds are his best friends

To illustrate just how big a deal this achievement is by Posty, as he is affectionately known, just over 100 recordings have attained that elusive Diamond status throughout the RIAA’s existence. To achieve the Diamond threshold, artists must sell 10 million certified copies of their songs. Post Malone now has eight of them, beating the tally of six songs previously held by Bruno Mars.

While Post’s recording of “Circles” set a record at 41 weeks as number one by a solo artist on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks chart, his other achievements include more than 80 million records sold, 10 Billboard Music Awards, 3 American Music Awards, and 1 MTV Video Music Awards. He has also received nine Grammy Award nominations.

Malone’s “Sunflower” has sold 17 million units and is now tied for the highest platinum-certified single of all time. To earmark this achievement, Post Malone is releasing “The Diamond Collection,” a new greatest hits album featuring his eight RIAA diamond songs, including his latest release, “Chemical.”

Joaquin Phoenix at the 92nd Academy Awards
Joaquin Phoenix is best known for playing dark and disturbing characters in indie movies

Joaquin Phoenix “fell out of frame” when he fainted on the movie set of Beau Is Afraid. The incident occurred during an intense scene involving his on-screen mother, Patti LuPone. Phoenix was not actively involved in the scene at the time.

The Midsommar director said the scene was intense for Patti and he was annoyed by the in-frame collapse because it would have been a good take. Apparently when Aster went to investigate, he realized that the fall was serious because Phoenix was letting people touch and tend to him.

The director said it was ‘poetic’ that Phoenix fainted during someone else’s scene.

He told of the incident at the screening and Q&A of what people believed would be a rerun of Aster’s acclaimed horror movie, Midsommar, with British actress Florence Pugh in the lead role.

Beau Is Afraid will open in cinemas in the United States next month and revolves around a paranoid man trying to get home to his mother.

Phoenix is currently filming alongside Lady Gaga in a sequel to the 2024 hit movie, Joker: Folie à Deux, reprising the title role as a tortured wannabe comedian. Lady Gaga plays the Joker’s love interest.
