 (full fact-check in progress).

Joaquin Phoenix “fell out of frame” when he fainted on the movie set of Beau Is Afraid. The incident occurred during an intense scene involving his on-screen mother, Patti LuPone. Phoenix was not actively involved in the scene at the time.

The Midsommar director said the scene was intense for Patti and he was annoyed by the in-frame collapse because it would have been a good take. Apparently when Aster went to investigate, he realized that the fall was serious because Phoenix was letting people touch and tend to him.

The director said it was ‘poetic’ that Phoenix fainted during someone else’s scene.

He told of the incident at the screening and Q&A of what people believed would be a rerun of Aster’s acclaimed horror movie, Midsommar, with British actress Florence Pugh in the lead role.

Beau Is Afraid will open in cinemas in the United States next month and revolves around a paranoid man trying to get home to his mother.

Phoenix is currently filming alongside Lady Gaga in a sequel to the 2024 hit movie, Joker: Folie à Deux, reprising the title role as a tortured wannabe comedian. Lady Gaga plays the Joker’s love interest.

He has also received nine Grammy Award nominations.

Malone’s “Sunflower” has sold 17 million units and is now tied for the highest platinum-certified single of all time. Actress Florence Pugh
Florence Pugh: Achieving character through personal sacrifice

Florence Pugh reveals she adopted extreme acting methods “to get into character” in her portrayal of Dani, a grieving psychology student who suffers a mental breakdown when she accompanies her boyfriend on a trip to Sweden. The English actress says she has never played a character in so much pain and, to crawl into Dani’s skin, she purposely put herself into unpleasant situations to heighten an authentic performance.

Pugh’s portrayal in the blockbuster hit horror, Midsommar, directed by Ari Aster, is described by Movieweb as Oscar-worthy but, instead, “is a classic case of the Academy’s bias against the horror genre.” Movieweb points out that throughout the history of the Academy Awards, only six horror movies have received nominations for Best Picture.

Midsommar grossed more than six times its original budget while Pugh raked in rave reviews for her performance, failing to receive an Oscar nomination for her highly acclaimed portrayal of a mentally disturbed student.
